$35,000 Gift Funds Speaker Series on the Connection Between Kindness and Mental Health and Well-Being

DUBLIN, Ohio (May 2, 2022) — Today, the Kappa Kappa Gamma Foundation announces a $35,000 gift from Kappa alumna Christina Eichler Bullock, UC Davis, which is funding a speaker series on the impact of kindness as it relates to one’s own mental health and well-being journey.

Emily sounds bubbly. It’s no surprise she was the recruitment chair for her chapter when she was in college. But being bubbly and upbeat has not negated the mental health challenges she’s faced after graduating. Almost a decade later and through much self-work, Emily has learned to recognize when stress and anxiety start to build tension in her body: Her shoulders feel like they’re by her ears. Her chest feels tight. For Emily, these physical manifestations may mean a more serious mental health episode is looming.

At a young age, Chiara “Kiki” Giannella, Colorado, faced mental health struggles, dealt with depression and navigated the stigma around going to therapy.
With therapy, Kiki got back on her feet and soon began to notice people around her who needed help too. It became her mission to create a safe space for those struggling so they too could focus on their mental health and well-being.
